--:-- Ryan Hanley: Welcome back to the show. Today, we have what I hope will be an incredible episode because it's going to be a solo episode. I never know what's going to come out when I do these episodes. Obviously, I have a plan, but we're kind of letting it fly. When we do solo episodes, we hope you enjoy it.
--:-- That being said, this is going to be a bit more of a fluffy, conceptual episode. If you're into something super hyper-tactical, I encourage you to check out Finding Peak, the new community I created. It's where I share my process, thoughts, research, and what I've learned over the years about peak performance in business and life.
--:-- If you're looking for hyper-tactical stuff, go to Finding Peak and subscribe. There's a free version and some deep dives into content marketing and inbound lead generation if you're interested. It's an incredible community with over 1,200 people subscribed in less than a month.
--:-- I also want to give a shoutout to my friends at SIAA. A lot of people have asked me what it's been like since I joined. Matt Maciello, the CEO, leads the organization in a way that's driving growth. It's a new SIA, and you never know what to expect. I respect Matt, and many people I respect have respect for him, which is why I engaged with SIAA and ultimately made the decision to move forward with the acquisition of Rogue.
--:-- They've been tremendous, and if you're looking to optimize your agency's revenue, grow, or be part of a supportive community, I highly consider SIAA. I know some might say I'm biased because they pay my bills, but SIA doesn't own this podcast. I can do whatever I want, and I'm choosing to share this with you.

--:-- Ryan Hanley: I had a conversation with Chris Paradiso yesterday, and he brought up an idea I agreed with. He hates the concept of getting comfortable with being uncomfortable because there's nothing comfortable about being uncomfortable. It's a fallacy.
--:-- If you think you'll ever wake up and find cold showers or cold calling easy, that's bullshit. Cold showers suck every time. Joe Rogan sits in a sauna at 200 degrees, and the last 10 minutes are incredibly uncomfortable. The point is, it's supposed to be uncomfortable.
--:-- Our lives are set up for comfort, but if we keep automating, what separates us? Automation removes personality, authenticity, and soul. I wrote about digitizing the soul of your business in my book, Content Warfare. When we seek comfort, we diminish our soul.

--:-- Ryan Hanley: I'm reading Anti-Fragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. It's about being fragile, robust, or anti-fragile. Fragile has limited upside and infinite downside; anti-fragile has limited downside and infinite upside. The goal is to persist through uncomfortable things, not to be comfortable with them.
--:-- When bad things happen, you need to persist and survive. That's anti-fragile. It's about creating optionality, having limited downside with infinite upside. Most people won't walk this path, but I believe in it. I've experienced shitty things, but I'm proud of who I am today.
--:-- I'm trying to be more honest, even though I tend to avoid conflict. I have ADHD, which I consider a superpower. It's uncomfortable, but I'm working towards being the best version of myself. My hope for you is to not seek comfort in 2023 but embrace the suck of uncomfortable things.
