--:-- Georgia Howe: I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley. It's Wednesday, November 29th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- John Bickley: The truce between Israel and Hamas is set to end today, though negotiations to extend the pause a bit longer continue. Officials involved in the negotiations told NBC that the hope is an extension of two days.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Israel's military is looking to validate the claim made by Hamas that a 10-month-old hostage and his four-year-old brother have been killed.
--:-- John Bickley: The terrorist group, which has been known to exaggerate claims, says that three hostages were killed in a bombing by Israel.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The Israel Defense Forces estimates that 1,200 people were killed on the October 7th Hamas attack, and around 160 people are still being held hostage by Hamas.
--:-- John Bickley: The U.S. Department of Education says it's opened an investigation into Harvard University regarding the numerous claims of anti-Semitism on campus.
--:-- Georgia Howe: This comes on the heels of the department announcing several investigations at other colleges and universities across the U.S.
--:-- John Bickley: According to the Boston Globe, the Harvard investigation comes in response to a complaint that claimed the school discriminated against Jewish and Israeli students when it failed to respond to harassment incidents last month.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The Department of Education confirmed the investigation, but said it couldn't discuss details since it's still ongoing.
--:-- Miguel Cardona: It is an expectation that our college campuses are safe for our students and that we are doing everything in our power to protect students and protect them for the most basic right, the right to learn on our school campuses.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer gave a major address this morning warning of grave repercussions if Americans don't denounce anti-Semitism.
--:-- Chuck Schumer: The rise of anti-Semitism is a crisis, a five-alarm fire that must be extinguished. For so many other people of goodwill, it is merely a problem, a matter of concern.
--:-- Georgia Howe: So today, I want to use my platform to explain why so many Jewish people see this problem as a crisis.
--:-- Chuck Schumer: At least one person has died after a U.S. military Osprey aircraft carrying five other people crashed off the coast of southern Japan this morning.
--:-- Zach Jewell: Regional Coast Guard officials told NBC News that the plane came down into the ocean near Yakushima, an island about 45 miles south from mainland Japan.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Originally, the Coast Guard said six people were on board, but the figure was later updated to eight people.
--:-- Zach Jewell: The Coast Guard confirmed that one man was recovered from the water and was unconscious and not breathing.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The unnamed crew member was pronounced dead after being given CPR.
--:-- Zach Jewell: There were no other details immediately available about the status of the aircraft or the other people on board, but search and rescue operations are underway.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The brother of former U Marine Paul Whelan says Paul was attacked in a Russian prison where he is serving time on espionage charges which he denies.
--:-- Dave Whelan: Whelan was allegedly punched in the face during a workshop when he asked another inmate to move out of his way.
--:-- Georgia Howe: According to Whelan's brother Dave, the other prisoner who was new broke Paul's glasses and attempted to hit him a second time before other prisoners intervened to stop the conflict.
--:-- Dave Whelan: I believe my brother was a target because he was an American. An anti-American sentiment was not uncommon among the other prisoners.
--:-- Georgia Howe: President Joe Biden is taking aim at Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert as he prepares to visit her district and talk up his economic accomplishments.
--:-- John Bickley: The White House said that Biden will tour a wind tower manufacturer in Pueblo that recently announced an expansion and claims that the expansion is a direct result of the Inflation Reduction Act.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The White House also said that MAGA Republicans like Boebert continue to undermine their constituents by blocking the president's economic agenda.
--:-- John Bickley: At a campaign event Tuesday night, Biden named Boebert specifically, criticizing her and other Republicans who voted against legislation like the bipartisan infrastructure law.
--:-- Georgia Howe: C.S. Wendt is Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, you know, that very quiet Republican lady.
--:-- Lauren Boebert: It's in her district who, along with every other Republican, voted against this bill. And it's making all this possible.
--:-- John Bickley: And she railed against his passage. But that's OK. She's welcoming it now.
--:-- Lauren Boebert: Boebert hit back at the White House and the president, saying in a statement that families in her district are being crushed by so-called Bidenomics.
--:-- Georgia Howe: She argued that the Inflation Reduction Act has cost taxpayers billions of dollars and called on Biden to help her with passing the Pueblo Jobs Act that she introduced in April.
--:-- John Bickley: Winter weather struck much of the Northeast this morning with over 40 inches of snow in the Great Lakes region.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The heaviest snowfall was in the upstate New York town of Constableville with over 42 inches.
--:-- John Bickley: Snow warnings across the Great Lakes expired at 7 a.m., though minor showers were still expected.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The National Weather Service in Buffalo said that visibility would be heavily reduced during rush hour.
--:-- John Bickley: Photos shared by the Weather Service showed near whiteout conditions due to the snow and wind.
--:-- Georgia Howe: And Charlie Munger, who teamed up with Warren Buffett to build Berkshire Hathaway into an investment powerhouse, died Tuesday morning at a California hospital.
--:-- John Bickley: The 99-year-old was just one month away from his 100th birthday.
