--:-- John Bickley: Hey, this is Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe.
--:-- Georgia Howe: It's Thursday, November 17th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- John Bickley: Current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced on Wednesday that she will not seek party leadership once Democrats lose control of the Congress to Republicans.
--:-- Nancy Pelosi: There is no greater official honor for me than to stand on this floor and to speak for the people of San Francisco. This I will continue to do as a member of the House, speaking for the people of San Francisco, serving the great state of California, and defending our Constitution.
--:-- Nancy Pelosi: And with great confidence in our caucus, I will not seek re-election to Democratic leadership in the next Congress.
--:-- John Bickley: The House Oversight Committee, set to soon be led by Republicans, has announced investigations into President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, alleging that they have uncovered numerous crimes committed by the family.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Our request for voluntary production of documents relevant to this investigation.
--:-- John Bickley: This is an investigation of Joe Biden, the President of the United States, and why he lied to the American people about his knowledge and participation in his family's international business schemes.
--:-- Georgia Howe: National security interests require the committee to conduct investigation, and we will pursue all avenues, avenues that have long been ignored.
--:-- John Bickley: Senator Ted Cruz of Texas praised the investigations, emphasizing that they will be focused on the President.
--:-- Ted Cruz: Well, listen, I think it's very important that we finally have congressional oversight of the abuses of this administration.
--:-- Ted Cruz: That's one of the most important consequences of Republicans taking the House.
--:-- Ted Cruz: And Jim and James are both exactly correct that the focus needs to be on Joe Biden.
--:-- Ted Cruz: You know, we've seen the Biden Department of Justice engage in abuses of power.
--:-- John Bickley: Baby on board.
--:-- Georgia Howe: A new bill introduced in the Texas state legislature would legally include a child in the womb as a second person in the HOV lanes.
--:-- Georgia Howe: State Representative Briscoe Cain, a Republican, introduced House Bill 521, which entitles pregnant women to use the HOV lanes in the state.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Oregon sheriffs are vowing not to enforce a strict gun control measure passed by the state voters last week.
--:-- Georgia Howe: At least five county sheriffs are openly refusing to enforce at least parts of the law.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The officials say that the law oversteps constitutional gun rights and will be an additional drain on law enforcement while failing to address problems with more serious crimes.
--:-- John Bickley: In the wake of the ongoing scandal at FTX, John Ray III, a lawyer who's now overseeing the bankruptcy proceedings from the defunct cryptocurrency exchange, revealed that the company, led by Sam Bankman Freed, is the worst failure he has seen in his career.
--:-- John Ray III: The seasoned attorney, who was appointed chief executive of FTX to manage the company's restructuring, remarked in a federal court filing that the team overseeing the company was utterly inept.
--:-- John Ray III: Noting that a substantial portion of the company's assets are missing or stolen.
--:-- John Bickley: The man who drove his vehicle into a crowd of people at a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last year, killing six people, was sentenced to life in prison with no parole.

--:-- Chris Licht: Here Andy Cohen and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper during one New Year Eve special.
--:-- Chris Licht: We're going to have another cocktail. Cheers.
--:-- Chris Licht: You should have something to sip.
--:-- Chris Licht: This is like a new drink.
--:-- Chris Licht: The years have been difficult.
--:-- Chris Licht: Here's the thing. Here's my job tonight.
--:-- Chris Licht: I'm here to get him drunk and make him giggle.
