--:-- Georgia Howe: I'm Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Tuesday, November 26th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- John Bickley: Donald Trump says he will make good on his campaign promise to impose sweeping tariffs on imports from China and other trading partners. Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips has the details.
--:-- Cabot Phillips: Trump has long promised tariffs, and now he's getting set to impose them. The president-elect said one of his first acts in office will be to impose new tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. He plans to issue executive orders setting a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tariff on Chinese imports aimed at curbing drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
--:-- Cabot Phillips: In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said, "This tariff will remain in effect until such time as drugs, in particular fentanyl, and all illegal aliens stop this invasion of our country. Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long-simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price."
--:-- Georgia Howe: The Biden administration today proposed the expansion of Medicare and Medicaid to cover weight loss drugs, including Ozempic and Wegovy. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestigiacomo reports.
--:-- Amanda Prestigiacomo: On Tuesday, the Biden administration made the proposal to expand Medicare and Medicaid coverage to include weight loss drugs, potentially benefiting 7 million Americans. Under current Medicare rules, weight loss drugs are not covered. Health officials say this plan would address obesity as a chronic disease and improve public health.
--:-- Amanda Prestigiacomo: The proposal could cost billions of dollars. Notably, these drugs have been shown to have dangerous side effects, including intestinal blockages, gallbladder damage, and gastroparesis. Thousands of lawsuits have already been filed against Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, the makers of those drugs.
--:-- Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: It'll be up to the incoming Trump administration to decide whether to implement the proposal or not. I'm not a supporter of the weight loss drugs. We're spending $1,600 a month on this drug. There's a bill right now before Congress that will make it available to everybody who's overweight, which is 74% of the American population. That alone will cost $3 trillion a year.
--:-- Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: If we spend about one-fifth of that giving good food, three meals a day, to every man, woman, and child in our country, we could solve the obesity and diabetes epidemic overnight. A tiny fraction of the cost.
--:-- Georgia Howe: U District Judge Tanya Chutkin has dismissed the 2020 election charges against Donald Trump after Special Counsel Jack Smith requested that the case be dropped. Chutkin ruled the case may be dismissed without prejudice, citing legal precedent that a sitting president cannot face federal indictment.
--:-- John Bickley: Trump called the charges empty and lawless and accused Democrats of wasting taxpayer money on politically motivated attacks.

--:-- Georgia Howe: Donald Trump plans to shake up the Justice Department as he prepares for his second term. According to The Washington Post, Trump intends to fire the team that worked with special counsel Jack Smith on federal cases against him, including career prosecutors usually shielded from political dismissal.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Sources close to Trump say he also wants to investigate alleged voter fraud in battleground states. Those plans remain less defined. Trump's spokeswoman defended his intentions, saying the Justice Department has been weaponized against Republicans and that Trump campaigned on ending such practices.
--:-- John Bickley: Walmart is scaling back its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives amid pressure from conservative activist Robbie Starbuck. The company will phase out funding for its million Center for Racial Equity, limit third sales of LGBTQ children's items, and even stop using terms like DEI and Latinx in official communications.
--:-- John Bickley: Walmart says the changes are part of ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity while adapting to evolving public sentiment. The move underscores the growing impact of anti-DEI campaigns against corporate policies.
--:-- Georgia Howe: And a federal judge has ruled that a male trans-identifying volleyball player at San Jose State University can compete in this week's Women's Conference Tournament. Daily Wire reporter Mireille Lordi has the story.
--:-- Mireille Lordi: Despite protests and a lawsuit from opposing teams, the Colorado federal judge cited legal protections under Title IX and the 14th Amendment, rejecting claims that the player Blair Fleming's participation unfairly disadvantages women. San Jose State says it is following NCAA guidelines.
--:-- Mireille Lordi: Riley Gaines, who has been fighting to protect women in sports, expressed disappointment in the decision saying, "A federal judge just ruled in favor of a male athlete who has been injuring defenseless women in volleyball for years. It's time to remove those activist judges who refuse to uphold the law as it was intended."
--:-- John Bickley: Plaintiffs in the case have appealed the decision.
