--:-- John Bickley: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was re-elected as Republican leader on Wednesday, defeating challenger Senator Rick Scott of Florida. The McConnell-Scott battle represents a growing clash within the party after it underperformed in the midterms.
--:-- Georgia Howe: President Biden said Wednesday that a missile that landed inside Poland was unlikely to have been fired by Russia. On Tuesday, the missile struck a farm 15 miles inside Poland, killing two people. The incident sparked discussions about convening NATO members to determine whether a military response was warranted under the organization's Article 5.
--:-- John Bickley: Former President Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who played a key role in his administration alongside her husband, Jared Kushner, was conspicuously missing from Trump presidential announcement at Mar on Tuesday. In a statement, Ivanka explained that she supports her father but quote "This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family."

According to the press release, the committee expects to hear from the companies and individuals involved in the alleged scandal, including Sam Bankman-Fried, Alameda Research, Binance, FTX, and related entities.
--:-- John Bickley: In the Senate, Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming said this week that there is bipartisan consensus for greater regulation of the crypto market. Kirsten Gillibrand and I have been talking to both regulators and the regulated community for almost a full year now, floating our draft, getting ideas, and getting them incorporated into our bill. That bill is now in the Senate Finance Committee. It's big and it's comprehensive. So next steps are to get that bill moving, or at least get the priority concepts in that bill moving in various Senate committees.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In the wake of the Republican Party's failure to take back the Senate, Two GOP senators are calling for an audit of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Senators Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Tom Tillis of North Carolina say an independent review of the committee should be held to determine how money was spent and investigate the lack of results in gaining a majority in the Senate.
--:-- John Bickley: This week the Senate voted 62 to 36 to end the COVID national state of emergency. The resolution now heads to the House, but the White House has already promised to veto it. The Biden administration would like to extend the national emergency until April of 2023.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The legislation was introduced by GOP Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, who argued that the Biden administration is using the emergency to expand government powers. Congress must take the responsible action of reining in this massive expansion of government and restore Americans' fundamental rights by terminating the COVID-19 National Emergency Declaration. As for the elements of the pandemic response that are working and needed, let's codify them into law. Let's work with the White House and with their friends across the aisle and exercise our Article I powers and do so through the legislative process.
--:-- John Bickley: A Georgia judge overturned a state law Tuesday that bans abortion of unborn children with a heartbeat at six weeks gestational age. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney sided with Sister Song Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, ruling that some provisions of the Life Act are unconstitutional.
