--:-- Georgia Howe: I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley. It's Wednesday, November 23rd, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- John Bickley: Thanks for joining us, Georgia.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The lawyers for the suspect in the mass shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBT nightclub claimed that the suspect is non-binary and uses the pronouns they, them. In a court filing Tuesday, the suspect's public defenders specified their client's non-binary status and used the plural pronouns throughout the document.
--:-- John Bickley: That's right, Georgia. The suspect faces five murder charges as well as potential hate crime charges after opening fire in Club Q.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In another tragic incident, a disgruntled Walmart employee opened fire on his colleagues in the break room on Tuesday evening in Chesapeake, Virginia, killing six people before turning the gun on himself.
--:-- John Bickley: [pauses] That's devastating news. Rail workers unions are threatening to strike again, a move that could trigger a shutdown that would cost the U.S. economy an estimated $2 billion per day.

--:-- John Bickley: House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy is calling on Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign or face congressional investigations over his mishandling of the border crisis.
--:-- Georgia Howe: McCarthy made the threat on Tuesday from El Paso, one of the city's most directly impacted by the border crisis. His actions have produced the greatest wave of illegal immigration in recorded history.
--:-- John Bickley: Our country may never recover from Secretary Mayorkas' dereliction of duty. This is why today I am calling on the secretary to resign.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The American public deserve more, deserve better, and expect more within their government. Enough is enough. We will do whatever it takes.
--:-- John Bickley: The San Francisco Elections Commission decided not to renew 20-year director John Arntz as its director, reportedly because he is white.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In an email sent to Arntz Monday, the commission's president wrote, quote, "our decision wasn't about your performance, but after 20 years, we wanted to take action on the city's racial equity plan and give people an opportunity to compete for a leadership position."
--:-- John Bickley: The move reportedly sparked astonishment and criticism from Arntz and Mayor London Breed, who herself has pushed for racial equity policies.
--:-- Georgia Howe: A protest broke out at Apple Inc main iPhone production plant in China early Wednesday morning.
--:-- John Bickley: Hundreds of workers reportedly upset over unpaid wages and COVID policies at the plant pushed through the barricades and passed security guards, who in turn reportedly beat the protesters.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Anti-riot police converged on the scene and several of the workers were injured.
--:-- John Bickley: Canadian financial corporation TD Bank donated half a million dollars through Canada's Children's Hospitals Foundation to support gender transitions for children through a pediatric gender diversity program.

--:-- John Bickley: French fashion brand Balenciaga apologized Tuesday after facing backlash over a recent advertisement that featured young children holding teddy bear purses dressed in bondage attire.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In response to the blowback, Balenciaga said, quote, "we sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign."
--:-- John Bickley: We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Scotland's latest attempt to break away from the United Kingdom was struck down in court on Wednesday.
--:-- John Bickley: The UK Supreme Court ruled that Scotland would need to obtain consent of the British government in order to hold a new referendum on independence
--:-- Georgia Howe: According to the Washington Post, 58 of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted.
--:-- John Bickley: The data marks the first time that more vaccinated than unvaccinated have died from the virus, highlighting that the COVID jabs may lose efficacy over time.
