--:-- [Upbeat music fades out, and the hosts introduce themselves]
--:-- Georgia Howe: This is Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley.
--:-- John Bickley: It's Wednesday, September 21st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate Wednesday by 75 basis points for the third straight month as it tries to get a grip on inflation. The move threatens to slow U.S. economic growth and exacerbate financial pain for millions of households and businesses.
--:-- John Bickley: President Biden addressed the United Nations on Wednesday, covering a number of global challenges. He emphasized the importance of global support for Ukraine.
--:-- Georgia Howe: This war is about extinguishing Ukraine's right to exist as a state, plain and simple, and Ukraine's right to exist as a people.
--:-- John Bickley: Biden then turned his attention to what he called the growing climate crisis. This is the human cost of climate change. Families are facing impossible choices, choosing which child to feed.
--:-- Georgia Howe: We don't have much time. No one seems to doubt it after this past year.
--:-- John Bickley: New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a civil fraud lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and three of his children, Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat this system.
--:-- John Bickley: Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists Wednesday to aid in his invasion of Ukraine.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In a seven-minute televised address, he warned that Russia will use whatever means necessary to win in Ukraine.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Vanderbilt University Medical Center released a statement Wednesday saying the hospital is being misrepresented in various social media posts and videos regarding their transgender policies.
--:-- John Bickley: Daily Wire uncovered a video of Vanderbilt Dr. Ellen Clayton saying there would be consequences if doctors conscientiously object to participating in trans surgeries or treatments. If you don't want to do this kind of work, don't work at Vanderbilt.
--:-- Georgia Howe: In response to the controversial video, the hospital released a statement saying, quote, Our policies allow employees to decline to participate in care they find morally objectionable and do not permit discrimination against employees who choose to do so. This includes employees whose personal or religious beliefs do not support gender-affirming care for transgender persons.
--:-- John Bickley: Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee released a letter sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray this week claiming agents were moved off of sex abuse cases to pursue political investigations.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The letter states that new whistleblowers have come forward, alleging that the Bureau is deliberately manipulating the way case files related to January 6 investigations are maintained in order to create a false and misleading narrative that domestic violence extremism is increasing around the country.
--:-- John Bickley: Congressman Jim Jordan told Fox News that he finds the whistleblowers' claims credible.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Well, we think he's being straightforward. We think he's as honest. We think he's a brave guy for coming forward. And I think the way I view it, in my mind, is they're juicing the numbers and they're cooking the books.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The exodus from the Empire State continues as a monthly record of 5,833 New Yorkers changed their driver's licenses to Florida last month, according to an analysis of data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. That brought the year total to over 41 New Yorkers leaving the state for the South.
--:-- John Bickley: Authorities in Minnesota have charged 47 individuals with stealing millions from U taxpayers from funds that were meant to go to meals for low-income children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The mayor of Wilmar, Minnesota slammed the alleged criminals.
--:-- Georgia Howe: And the official song of the United States Space Force was revealed Tuesday. The song is named after Space Force's motto, Semper Supra, or Always Above.
