--:-- John Bickley: I'm Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Tuesday, October 10th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Israeli forces have battered Hamas targets in Gaza from the sky, as a possible ground invasion could come at any time. Hundreds of casualties have been reported. Meanwhile, the Israeli death toll has risen above 1,000, with horrifying images of barbarity committed by Hamas coming to light. In one gruesome example, officials reportedly discovered that Hamas butchered roughly 40 Israeli babies and children, with some beheaded. Entire families were killed, with many Israeli homes marked with trails of blood throughout.
--:-- John Bickley: Israel Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu addressed the tragedy late Monday evening. Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they've made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israel's other enemies for decades to come.
--:-- Georgia Howe: With at least 14 Americans killed by Hamas and an untold number taken hostage American families are now pleading with the Biden administration to do more to ensure the rescue of their loved ones. Today, six U.S.-Israeli citizens held a press conference asking for more transparency and action from the U.S. All we ask from the Biden administration and the Secretary of State, Lincoln, is to act to the immediate release of all hostages. And remember that the U.S. government has direct responsibility to the lives of the U.S. citizens that are held hostage by these terrorists.
--:-- John Bickley: Shortly after the press conference, reports surfaced that American special forces had landed in Israel, though it's unclear if or when they will rescue Americans. President Biden addressed the atrocity for the first time on video since Saturday morning.
--:-- Georgia Howe: You know, there are moments in this life when the pure, unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world. The people of Israel lived through one such moment this weekend. This is an act of sheer evil. More than 1,000 civilians slaughtered in Israel, among them at least 14 American citizens killed.
--:-- John Bickley: The president stopped short of saying what, if any, plans the U.S. has for rescuing trapped Americans though he did suggest that the U.S. would be sending more military assistance to Israel. We're surging additional military assistance, including ammunition and interceptors to replenish Iron Dome I directed my team to share intelligence and deploy additional experts from across the United States government to consult with and advise Israeli counterparts on hostage recovery efforts.
--:-- Georgia Howe: President Biden's now suspended special envoy to Iran has reportedly been linked to an Iranian spy ring operating to shift U.S. policy to favor Iran. That news comes as Western and Middle Eastern intelligence has confirmed that Iran helped Hamas plot its attack against Israel.
--:-- John Bickley: Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more. In addition to an FBI investigation over his handling of classified documents, Special Envoy Robert Malley is also suspected of advancing several operatives in the spy ring. This includes helping an alleged Iranian agent named Arian Tabatabai infiltrate her way into various sensitive U.S. government positions, including at the State Department and Pentagon.
--:-- Georgia Howe: The operation began in 2014 with the Iran Experts Initiative, a propaganda and influence operation by Tehran that used Iranians living abroad to help Iran obtain a favorable nuclear deal. The group reported to Iran's main military division, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran's then foreign minister, Javad Zarif, was also reportedly involved.
--:-- John Bickley: The White House confirmed Monday evening that the president was interviewed at the start of the week by the special counsel spearheading the criminal investigation into his handling of classified material.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Here with more is Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler. The investigation is being led by special counsel Robert Herr, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. White House counsel office spokesperson Ian Sands said in a statement the voluntary interview was conducted at the White House over two days and concluded Monday.
--:-- Joel Needler: Federal officials have reportedly interviewed approximately 100 witnesses in their criminal investigation into Biden's handling of classified material while he was vice president in the Obama administration and a U.S. senator for the state of Delaware.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Republicans are set to hold a forum this evening for candidates to make their final pitch in the race for Speaker of the GOP-controlled House. The event will begin at 5 p.m. Eastern, and according to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, will be a chance for GOP members to hear from Speaker of the House declared candidates. A vote for Speaker is expected to be held as soon as tomorrow.
--:-- John Bickley: Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has lost his appeal to be released from a Russian prison. Gershkovich was arrested earlier this year on espionage charges by the Russian government, a claim he, his employer, and countless others deny. This is the third time the Moscow city court has rejected his appeal. He will now remain in prison until at least November 30th.
--:-- Georgia Howe: Former Texas Representative Will Hurd dropped out of the Republican presidential primary on Monday night, becoming the second Republican to do so. Hurd, who polled near the bottom of the primary field, struggled to garner even 1% in the polls and never made it onto the debate stage. Now he's endorsing former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.
