Narrator: We have been lied to about weight loss. 80% of the people are at least 30 pounds or more overweight. How much fat you think that is? Five pounds. The average person is six of these. You put it on your liver, your kidney, your heart, it will destroy your organ. There's a difference between weight loss and fat loss. Half their weight loss was water and muscle. All those people destroyed their metabolism for life. They all gained back their weight, by the way. If they lost 200, they gained back 230. You don't want to ever lose weight. You only want to lose fat. Just five pounds of lean muscle will eat up to 10 of these every year the rest of your life.
--:-- [Podcast Intro]
Paul Alex: Hey guys, and welcome back to the Level Up Podcast. This is Paul Alex. And today we have another phenomenal guest, guys. Today I'm sitting down with John Jubilee, co-founder of Energize Health. John is known for helping people rebuild their energy and transform their lives with simple daily habits. But what I want to uncover is the man before the success, guys. So we're going to take a deep dive into his early story, the struggles, the mindset shifts, and the defining moments that push him into entrepreneurship. So just like my first business, guys, as you guys know, I started with a side hustle, grew into a full-time income, and now we're here, right? So, John, welcome to the show.
--:-- John Jubilee: Great to be here.
--:-- Paul Alex: Oh, dude. It's a very blessing to have somebody coming from California, across the country, for the interview, man. So thank you once again. And you have a phenomenal story. So we're going to take a deep dive into it, man. So, John, before you ever became an entrepreneur, what was life like for you, man? Like your energy, your finances, your confidence, man. Who was John back then?
--:-- John Jubilee: Well, I'll encapsulate it for everybody. It is an inspiring story, Paul. My first job was at nine years old. I was raised by a single mom in the inner city. For those people that know Columbus, Ohio, I lived in what was called "the bottoms" on Sullivan Avenue, kind of a kill zone. Not a safe place to grow up. But my mom would not take welfare or food stamps or any of that stuff. I wish she would have, by the way, because I thought the only two meats in the world were spam and liver, and I didn't really care for either one of those. But my mom was basically working as a waitress. She was a teenage mom with me and my older brother.
--:-- At nine years old, I realized my mom needs money. So I went to work. You can't even get a paper route when you're nine years old, but there was a mentally handicapped boy in my neighborhood that was 13. I took him down. He was my first employee. So I guess I was an entrepreneur at nine. I had a big paper route, about 160 clients. Then I started buying bikes and fixing them up. By the time I was 15, I went to work in a foundry, an iron mill. I worked on a grinder. So when people talk about "iron sharpens iron," that means something different to me because I was really grinding iron. That was 1975, paid $8 an hour. But I made about $24 an hour because they paid piece rate. I worked really hard and went to high school during the day.
--:-- When I ended up getting to go to college, kind of a fun story. I'm banking all this money to go to college. Being born in Columbus, Ohio, I wanted to go to Ohio State. But through another very dramatic story, I had moved to Indiana, not by choice, but through a set of unique circumstances. I ended up scoring a good score on the SAT, good enough to get me a full-ride scholarship out of Indiana. So I got to keep all my money. That was awesome. For those that do a little history, another fun side story: the Hunt brothers cornered the silver market in my first year of college. I invested in silver and became a pretty wealthy college student.
--:-- John Jubilee: So anyway, I had this unique journey. I ended up in banking at a young age because the girl I dated in high school, her dad was a bank president. He was always impressed with my work ethic, seeing me work in a foundry and then go on to college. So he hired me to manage a mortgage operation for him. I didn't know how to spell mortgage. I said, "Is there a T in mortgage?" He said, "No, really, you'll be amazing at this." So I had a lot of great success in those early years, but banking is not really entrepreneurial. For me, it really was because by the time I got to about the fifth largest bank in America, I negotiated to be a fully commissioned manager, which they'd never done before. So I went to work on straight commission. At that time, I ended up making more money than the CEO. All the accountants really liked me because all I did was make money for the company.
--:-- But my real transference into pure entrepreneurship was with my health issues. I ended up bone on bone in both my knees from playing a lot of basketball on the street and a lot of football. I had no cartilage left. Had the banker belly going on. I had a 10-inch belly back then and high blood pressure, hypertension. In my frustration of dealing with those health issues and having spent a fortune over 10 years trying to get myself healthy, I decided I'm going to take control. I decided to go do a bunch of research myself to find out how do you get healthy with the human body. I don't claim to be a smart guy, but I am a gifted guy. I was born with a photographic memory. When I was a little kid, I could read an encyclopedia and quote it back. I tested out of 12 years of college math in about 45 minutes. That was a good 45 minutes. Saved me a lot of time, a lot of school hours.
--:-- In the midst of that, though, I learned two simple strategies. Everything is cellular in a human body. If you make the cell healthy, your body's going to be healthy. When I created that protocol, it transformed me physically. Little did I know it was going to transform me entrepreneurially and financially because for the next 11 years, I helped several thousand people get off all their medication, lose their fat, gain their muscle, gain their healthy hydration, get back their health. I can't even make these stories up.
--:-- I had this cool group of 12 men. We met every Friday morning from 5 to 7 a.m. I'm not going to name drop who the guy was, but he's a super famous guy. 17 years ago, he had 12 million followers. Think about this, guys. 12 million, 17 years ago. It was before people even had followers. All these men kept telling me, "John, you got to go full time in health and wellness. You're going to change the world." Finally, the main guy sat me down. He had 800 employees and all these followers, just a rock star of a business guy. He sat me down one day, knee to knee, toe to toe, pointing his finger in my face. "John, you're going to change the world. This is your calling of God. You got to go do health and wellness." I looked at him like, "Mr. Monetizer, are you out of your mind? I'm one of the top 10 bankers in America." He said, "No, really, John. No one can do what you can do. No one knows your science. You got to go do this. I will put my money where my mouth is. I'm going to give you my whole staff for free to go do this."
--:-- I walked out of his office and I just said a simple prayer. I said, "Lord, are you speaking to me through..." and I said the guy's name. I clearly heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say, "Yes, I am." I said, "What does that look like?" He said, "We're going to do this." I said, "What is this?" He said, "I'm going to give you every resource. I'm going to give you every connection. You are going to change the world. You are going to help the world get healthy." So I walked away from a big life. In 72 hours, I gave away my company. I contacted every client, said, "Don't call me. Call this guy or this guy. I'm out." That was the birth of stepping into health and wellness, which was pure entrepreneurship. I didn't know how I was even going to make a penny. But I had conviction and belief I was going to change lives.
--:-- Paul Alex: John, that's phenomenal. There's a lot to uncover on that part of the story, man, and thanks for the intro. So how old were you when you started first feeling it, man? I feel like I got into my 30s. I'm 37 right now, but I got into my early 30s, and then I started feeling it. The joints, the back, the overweight, man. When did you start feeling it at that time?
--:-- John Jubilee: Because of so much super intense blacktop basketball, just grinding away, for sure in my 20s I was already starting to have the crackling and popping. By the time I hit 30, I was Mr. Rice Krispies. I was snap, crackling, and popping. You could hear me walk into a room. And that belly just sneaks up on you. One inch, two inches, three inches. I literally lost 10 inches in my belly after I got healthy. I didn't even realize. Men, we have this picture in our mind. We hold up our gun and we think we look good, and then we look down and realize we can't see our feet. Something's wrong.
--:-- Paul Alex: I think that happens to everybody. I think all of us perceive ourselves as we were when we were 21, having that body and going to the gym and feeling that sometimes. But then age just creeps up with you. I'm a big believer in health. Last year when I was 36, financially it was one of the best years I ever had, but I lost myself, dude. I gained 45 pounds overweight. If you guys were to see the copy of my book that came out two years ago, completely different person. So I'm a big believer in the health journey. Did you have like a mentor that you talked to, or your father, or a friend, or your spouse at that time, or a group of friends that were really health conscious that got you thinking about health?
--:-- John Jubilee: Unfortunately, I never had a father. My biological father actually took my mom as a teenage mother. I was the second pregnancy. He took me to be aborted. My mom ended up heroically jumping off an abortion table, running out, saved my life. Thank God for my heroic mom. But she became a single mom that day. So I never really had a father in my life. I was kind of a loner early in life. Now, for the last 10 years of my life, I am a huge advocate. I pay for mentorship. I find people that are where I want to be, that know what I don't need to know. I will pay for expert advice and for mentorship and would advise anyone to do that. It's one of the most powerful things I ever did, to submit myself to mentorship and value it and pay for it.
--:-- Paul Alex: So what led you at around the age of 30 when you started getting this weight and your muscles and your joints hurt? What was your thought process then? What made you say, "I'm going to start really looking and taking my health seriously"?
--:-- John Jubilee: This is a great question. I'll never forget it. I go into the backyard. At that time, I had two sons. I now have six sons and two girls, by the way. But I had two sons. I go in the backyard to throw the football with my boys. I'm throwing the football for about 15 minutes, and I'm thinking, "Man, I'm kind of feeling this."
--:-- Paul Alex: How old were your kids during that time?
--:-- John Jubilee: My boys were 9 and 7. So I'm on the couch, and I'm having this moment, this epiphany of, "Oh my word. Am I going to be the couch potato dad? Am I going to be the couch potato dad that can't even play with my kids for 15 minutes?" Sometimes it just takes something to smack us to wake us up. I see this picture of myself and I'm thinking someone has Photoshopped a picture of me and made me look like a fat guy. They didn't even have the fat app back then, but I'm looking at this fat guy and I'm thinking, "No, I look like this guy." But it was like, "No, I look like Mr. Pillsbury Doughboy." I'm looking at that and thinking, "Oh my gosh, I feel horrible. I look horrible. I have to do something different because I want to have a legacy with my boys. I want to be able to be an active participant in their life, not a spectator in pain."
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that. So you had your aha moment when your kids were around seven to nine. You're sitting on the couch, you look at yourself, you're just like, "Dude, I lost myself." So that day you go in there, what's the next steps? What is the step? Because there's a lot of men out there right now. I'm about to be a father myself in three months.
--:-- John Jubilee: Thank you, man.
--:-- Paul Alex: Thank you, man. But the fact that you had several kids, congrats to you, man, and you look great. I'm a big believer in health is wealth because what's the point of making money if you can't enjoy it? The fact that you took your children as your "why" to getting healthy, that's powerful, dude. I know there's a lot of people going to be watching this that are at that stage right now. They're overweight and they're just like, "What are some simple steps that I could take?" So what were the couple steps that you took in order to get towards your health journey?
--:-- John Jubilee: Here's the interesting thing, and there's probably a lot of men and women listening to us. They already took the steps. I'd already been trying for 10 years.
--:-- Paul Alex: So you were trying at that moment.
--:-- John Jubilee: I was trying. I did the keto. Back then they didn't call it the keto diet. They called it the Atkins diet. It's the same thing. No-carb, low-carb, low-sugar, no sugar. I did all that stuff. I did the run five miles a day. I tried 10 different things over 10 years.
--:-- John Jubilee: When I say I tried, I mean I'm an intense guy. I really tried. But everything failed. Everything failed. For a man, especially a logical man, when you have a mathematical mind, you're so logical. You expect, "If I do this, I'm going to get this outcome." You're a planner. When that doesn't happen, it's so frustrating. I'm being for real. I didn't even want to try something again because I didn't want to fail again. That feeling sucked. That feeling was horrible. I didn't want to have that feeling again. But thankfully, I felt such a depression when I couldn't play with my boys. That stabbed me in the heart as a man, as a dad. I'm thinking, "They're only nine and seven. What's it going to be like when they're teenagers? It's even worse. Am I going to be the wheelchair dad?"
--:-- That's when I decided, "There has to be an answer. There has to be something sustainable. God created us. He's the manufacturer. He has to have some way we can really get healthy and stay healthy." That's when I dove in. I'm looking at all these medical studies that they spent millions and tens of millions of dollars on. It really was like a divine download. I felt like the light bulbs were just going off. "Oh, wait a minute. I get it. If my cells are healthy—I'm 37 trillion cells—if my cells are healthy, I'm going to be healthy. How do you make a cell healthy? You have to hydrate it. You've got to get the hydration inside the cell, because the cell has two membranes stopping the water from getting in there." That's what nobody could figure out. Nobody could figure out how do you make that membrane porous. How do you open it up so the hydration can get in? I didn't even know this at the time, but also what's trapped in those cells is inflammation. That's what makes us have pain and toxins, which makes us feel bad. They're all trapped in there like a glass marble. We started healthy, but then they became like glass marbles. The inflammation is trapped. The toxins are trapped. No nutrient can really get in there. That's why we just start going downhill.
--:-- Paul Alex: John, just a follow-up question on that because this is some good stuff. Guys, I know you guys are going to enjoy this. But John, what causes the inflammation?
--:-- John Jubilee: Great question. Inflammation is caused by multiple things. Number one is just oxidative stress. Everybody goes through it. Everybody has it. It's like if you take a banana and set it on your counter and just leave it there, what happens? It turns brown. That's a great word picture for everyone. Oxidation happens to every banana, and it happens to every human cell through life. So we get oxidative stress. Then when we have extra stressors in life, especially entrepreneurs—no one's more stressed out than an entrepreneur.
--:-- John Jubilee: We got to pay the bills. We got the payroll. How are we going to get enough money in the door? That produces cortisol. Cortisol is like a super glue hardener to the cell. The more stress we have and the more cortisol that's produced, that 10X is our poor health and it slows our metabolism down.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. Okay. So everybody in America and the world suffers from this. How did you learn this? At that stage of the game, it wasn't just self-education. How did you learn this knowledge?
--:-- John Jubilee: This was pure self-education. Thank God. If I would have just went by what everyone else was saying, I would have never gotten this download. I really believe it's like a divine download. I'm just going to say, no one is smart enough to know what I know. I really believe God knew I would be faithful with the message. So he gave it to somebody he knew would really take it to the masses and take it to the people with a pure heart. It started with me. Little did I know, because I really thought I would always be in banking. When you've had that level of success, why would you leave? Any logical man, why would you leave that type of thing? But this, I really believe, was like a divine calling. Over the years, it just continued to grow and to grow and to grow until finally, at this point, I probably had several hundred doctors, thousands of nurses, tens of thousands of success stories, all documented. People got off every medication you could name. They all gained hydration. They gained muscle. They lost their subcutaneous and visceral fat. More importantly, they feel amazing. People reverse aging. I'm talking people on 5, 8, 10, 12 medications getting off all their medication. Doctors—really famous doctors that you see on TV, from Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic—they say this. This isn't my quote. They say, "You cracked the code. You went to the root cause of pain and disease, which was inflammation, and you figured out how to get inflammation out of a cell, which gets it out of the human body."
--:-- Paul Alex: Well, let me ask you this, John. Let's go from a beginner's point of view. I have a lot of viewers that watch this show, mainly for self-help, but we do bring phenomenal entrepreneurs like yourself. Number one, just my perspective, the reason why you went from banking to what you do now and what you did, you helped a lot of people. It's God's plan, man. To make a pivot like that, you got to understand that's not normal. It's just like when I went from corporate sales for six years from 21 to 26, and then all of a sudden I was just like, "I want to be a cop in the most dangerous city in America, Oakland, California." People are like, "What made you do that?" I just needed a change. Then to become a cop to a full-time entrepreneur on top of that, it's weird, but it happens. It's something unique that happens. It's the same thing with you. You went from banking. Something in your life dramatically affected your decision-making, which was your health. It pushed you towards that idea. So now, from the beginner's point of view, you transformed yourself. Then from transforming yourself, how did you turn that into a multimillion-dollar business?
--:-- John Jubilee: Great question. When I stepped out in faith to make this leap, I had no idea how I would monetize or how I would make money. There actually was a gentleman who had severe gout. My heart was so with this guy because he couldn't play with his kids.
--:-- Paul Alex: Foundation right there, man. Similar pain point.
--:-- John Jubilee: I said, "That was me. I couldn't play with my kids." He said, "No, man, this gout puts me on the couch. I can't play with my kids." I said, "Hey, this will reverse your gout. It'll flush all those acidic things out of your bones. You're going to be good." He was my first pain client, a gout reversal. At this time, I was not even thinking about the fat loss side. All I was thinking of was getting people healthy. It just so happened every single person that would do this protocol, whatever fat they needed to lose, they lost it. If it was 30 pounds, they lost 30 pounds of fat, not weight, by the way. No one's losing any water or muscle.
--:-- Paul Alex: Interesting.
--:-- John Jubilee: This guy lost like 60 pounds of fat. Of course, I'm making a mental note like, "Oh, that's interesting. I just gave him a protocol to get rid of his gout, but he lost 60 pounds of fat." That's a cool side effect.
--:-- Paul Alex: Very good side effect.
--:-- John Jubilee: He gained about 12 pounds of solid muscle. It just started snowballing. One became two, became four, became eight, became 16. It just kept growing. It really was just word of mouth. Straight referrals in the early days.
--:-- Paul Alex: This was back in California?
--:-- John Jubilee: No, this was in Brentwood, Franklin, Tennessee.
--:-- John Jubilee: They butt up to each other. Everything was word of mouth in the beginning. Just one person telling another. Then I got an invite to go on radio. Who would think you could build a health and wellness program on the radio?
--:-- Paul Alex: What year was this, brother?
--:-- John Jubilee: Let me think here. My oldest son was... Oh, you're fine. Supertalk 99.7. This was like 1998, 2000.
--:-- Paul Alex: So 1998 to the early 2000s, the radio talk show hosts and stations, they're pretty big. People are tuning in. It's equivalent to what podcasts are now. So you get your shot. You get on a talk show?
--:-- John Jubilee: Actually, what they did was they offered me a two-hour show on Sunday from 10 to 12 a.m., which in Tennessee is not a good time zone because everyone's in church. But lo and behold, it just blew up. It became a growth that an entrepreneur would just dream of. My first week, 10,000, 20,000, 40,000. It just kept multiplying. I had to just figure out, as entrepreneurs, right, we've got to figure it out.
--:-- Paul Alex: Figure it out, buddy.
--:-- John Jubilee: How am I going to scale this? I had no business plan. I didn't even have a website. The first day I did my first show, I didn't even have a website. Some of my clients called me from California. I was in Tennessee. They said, "John, we're listening to your radio show. We're building your website right now." I didn't have any money at that time. I said, "Why don't I have any money?" They go, "No, you changed our life with this protocol. We're going to build this for you for free. We'll manage it. Don't worry about it."
--:-- Paul Alex: Very cool.
--:-- John Jubilee: God gave me the resource in my hand like he promised me, walking out of that office. Here was the resource. It scaled. Within one year, it was a multimillion dollar operation on the radio.
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that, man. That's so inspiring. You think about it. One day you're like, "Dude, I got my shot on the radio. It's during church." It's almost like a limiting belief. "Oh, it's not going to do anything because it's during a wrong time." All of a sudden, the show happens and within a year you start getting referrals and it starts growing. The show, was it people calling in and you answering their questions, or was it more informational, sort of like what we're doing now?
--:-- John Jubilee: Yes, it was both. People would call in and ask questions. It was all live, by the way.
--:-- Paul Alex: That's awesome.
--:-- John Jubilee: It was a total live show. Anyone that's never been on radio, there's no editing. It's all live.
--:-- Paul Alex: That's pretty cool. So you better know what you're talking about.
--:-- John Jubilee: Yeah, you're on the spot with tens of thousands of people listening to you, or hundreds of thousands of people listening to you at that time.
--:-- Paul Alex: So that happens, ends up being a multimillion-dollar business off of the radio. Then what happens next?
--:-- John Jubilee: I've got to make a correction here. I started 17 years ago as a business. The radio opened up in 2008.
--:-- Paul Alex: Okay, so 2008.
--:-- John Jubilee: So a few years, it rolled into multimillion. Then I went to live speaking. I would do live speaking events and we just started multiplying radio stations. We went to South Carolina, we went to Indianapolis, Indiana. I would go do a live event once a month in each one of those areas. In my live speaking, this just encouraged all entrepreneurs. You don't have to have it all dialed in. I had no slides. I just stood in front of a room of 300 to 600 people at a time.
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that.
--:-- John Jubilee: I just shared from my heart. I would take questions from the audience. There'd be tough doctors in there trying to come in to poke a hole in my science. Of course, they'd become my client. Over all these years, all these doctors came to us because there were these miracle transformations where someone they were treating for 10, 20 years for thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes reversed. The doctor said, "I got to call that guy. I can't believe what happened to you." That's how we won over the medical community.
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that. So just being yourself, people essentially bought into you because you have a remarkable story. You went from the banking industry. You did it for your kids. You transformed yourself. You transformed thousands of people. You were able to build a successful company. You were able to go on the radio. You were able to monetize the radio. You were able to monetize live events. You all did it just because you wanted to fix yourself for your kids.
--:-- John Jubilee: Yeah.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. That's amazing.
--:-- John Jubilee: There's an amazing second chapter that happened.
--:-- Paul Alex: So what happens next?
--:-- John Jubilee: My wife, Chelsea, was a rock star business person. Chelsea had 15 years of success, interestingly, in banking. She left that to go study cellular trauma because she had a lot of healing to do herself. She had a very dramatic life like I did. We both were single before we got married. We both had a marriage that didn't work out. I ended up raising five kids as a single dad. When you have five kids and I adopted two African-American sons, you will be single for a while. That's a lot of drama for a girl at day gone.
--:-- Paul Alex: That's a lot of kids, man.
--:-- John Jubilee: Wouldn't change it for anything. When Chelsea and I got married, not only did we get married, we married our sciences. It's a beautiful, amazing love story. We really just talked on the phone for four months, and then we just got married. We never really dated.
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that, dude.
--:-- John Jubilee: We just got married. That was about seven years ago. When we married our sciences, Energize Health went to a whole other level. I really believe it's the power of two is 10x.
--:-- Paul Alex: Two is 10x. And that's a biblical principle, by the way. It says one could put 1,000 to flight, two could put 10,000. But when I joined my wife, the company just went to a whole other level. So it went up to the $10 million plus range when we came together. I love to give my wife all the credit. You got to give her flowers, because she is a superstar. She makes science fun. She makes science entertaining.
--:-- John Jubilee: That was the second chapter, when Chelsea came into the picture for Energize Health.
--:-- Paul Alex: So at that time, you guys are together. You go into business together. The business grows even more. And then what was the next stage of the game for you guys?
--:-- John Jubilee: Well, I'd be remiss if I didn't share that every entrepreneur is going to go through the fiery furnace. You're going through the fiery furnace, make no mistake. So what happens? My wife makes this giant leap of faith, closes down two successful businesses, comes to work with me, and we are a public speaking company. And COVID hits.
--:-- Paul Alex: Oh, my God. So 2020 happens.
--:-- John Jubilee: Yeah. So now here she just takes this giant leap of faith. We have a house in California, which is not cheap. It's expensive. And COVID hits, and we're technically out of business. We have no way to go do a live event. We built our whole company on live speaking events, and now we are completely shut down. We are trying to figure out how to pivot. It's easier for people to say you got to pivot, but you have to have something to execute. You need a real pivot plan. We had no pivot plan. So we went from this to devastation.
--:-- John Jubilee: We were devastated. We filed for unemployment in California. We're both on unemployment. We're on food stamps. In California, they give food stamps a cool name, SNAP. So we'd be shopping with our little SNAP card and praying, "God, please let there be enough money for our groceries on this card." So we went from having multi-millions to overnight having no way to make money. We're closing down offices right and left. We had as many as 15 offices all over the country. Nobody can even meet in person anymore.
--:-- Paul Alex: You guys are stressing.
--:-- John Jubilee: We are totally underwater. My wife comes in one day and she goes, "Honey, there's more room in the driveway for the kids to play," because her car got repossessed. This is real entrepreneurship right here. When people want to hear the glory stuff, they need to hear the hard stuff too. But my wife never flinched. I never flinched. We just kept doing this like, "God, now what are we going to do? Do it on Zoom. Do it on Zoom." I never believed you could build a health and wellness company on Zoom.
--:-- Paul Alex: Was it the same year? Was it 2020 or was it more 2021? You guys went through a year of going through this pain point?
--:-- John Jubilee: No, we went through a year of total pain. We didn't know what we were going to do.
--:-- John Jubilee: We were just underwater. Twice our house was deed in lieu of foreclosure, which means you're 14 days away from losing your home. We have three kids. The boys are 11 now, Ava's 14. We've got three young kids at home. Twice we're within 14 days of losing our home. I will tell a fun story because this will encourage people. Right there we're devastated. It's Christmas time. How are you going to buy stuff for the kids? When you're an entrepreneur, you don't have that steady paycheck coming in. We're just trusting the Lord. Then someone invites me on a podcast on New Year's Day at 10 a.m. I'm like, "I'll come on your podcast at New Year's Day at 10 a.m." But I'm thinking, who's watching a podcast New Year's Day at 10 a.m.? We go on this podcast. It was a Jewish Christian podcast, but they wanted to know about health. We shared our protocol. We made a million dollars.
--:-- John Jubilee: We made a million dollars of sales in 72 hours.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. That's amazing. So you go on this podcast. They add you on there. You're like, who's going to be listening to this pod? On a whim, you guys, within 72 hours of going on that pod, releasing the show, you make a million dollars in sales.
--:-- John Jubilee: Yeah.
--:-- Paul Alex: That's wonderful, dude. That's just the way God works. He'll bless you in different ways. So you were able to monetize that. So now you guys went from doing live events by themselves, which basically was your strategy to market your product, to pivoting to now doing virtual webinars? What are you doing now to keep the momentum going?
--:-- John Jubilee: Yeah. Interestingly, and this is a little bit of a confession, our company has grown and we've never had sales or marketing in the history of our company. This month that we're together, we just hired our first ever sales and marketing people just now. So we'll see what happens with some sales and marketing. But the beautiful thing is God gets all the glory. God gets all the credit. I tell people, who could build a company with no sales and no marketing? We've been Inc. 5000 back-to-back award winners for one of the fastest growing companies. There's 33 million companies in America, and we back-to-back years have been one of the fastest growing. Only God could do that. And my wife. So now we pivoted to where we do get invited. Like, thank you for inviting us, by the way. When we get invited on these podcasts, on television shows as a health expert, it's amazing. There's something about people. I think because of all the noise on the internet, people are much more intuitive now. They know the difference between someone that's just trying to sell them and someone that's authentic.
--:-- Paul Alex: Of course.
--:-- John Jubilee: Someone that's genuine. For whatever reason, people seem to know that John and Chelsea, those guys are the real deal. They're authentic. They're genuine. I'm going to try that. And it's been tremendous.
--:-- Paul Alex: Yeah, John. We're definitely in the trust era in 2025. I think the gold rush of digital marketing and e-learning was definitely when 2020 hit, when everybody was inside, they started using Zoom. Zoom became a multi-billion dollar company because of that. A lot of people invested into different opportunities. Some didn't work out, some did. Some became multi-millionaires, others didn't. But now in 2025, people are so used to being sold to because of ads. People start buying ads. That itself is a multi-billion dollar industry because of Zuckerberg. At the end of the day, it's just the way the world's going. So yes, people can tell when somebody's being authentic by their story and everything. But you've gone through it, man. You have the social proof. You lost the weight. You built the business. You lost the business. You almost foreclosed your home. You have the kids. You have the wife. You have the whole story and the transition, which is good. So let me ask you this, man. You brought two items with you. You got to tell me what the two items are.
--:-- John Jubilee: Well, I love to share this with people because we have been lied to about weight loss. 80% of the people watching us, 80% internationally, are at least 30 pounds or more overweight.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. 30 pounds or more.
--:-- John Jubilee: Now, I'm going to share a quick study. You won't hear this one quoted very often, but this is a real study. You can go look it up. The U.S. government did a study years ago. When I was growing up as a little boy, they had all these no-smoking commercials. Stop smoking, stop smoking, stop smoking. Then they did these two big studies. What they realized was, oh my word, it's not the smoking that's killing people. It's the fat. 20 pounds of fat will kill you faster than two packs of cigarettes a day. That's a medical fact.
--:-- John Jubilee: So think about it. I brought this. [Holds up an item] Take a guess, guys, how much fat you think that is.
--:-- Paul Alex: That has to be solid, what, five pounds?
--:-- John Jubilee: That is five pounds of fat. Most people will guess it at like 10. But look, think about it. That's just five pounds of fat. That's insane. The average person is six of these overweight. Six. You put that on your mouth, suffocate yourself. You put it on your liver, your kidney, your heart, it will destroy your organ. I like to show people this because our average woman loses three of these in 30 days. Come on, girls. That's better than liposuction, to lose that in a healthy way. Men lose six. I tell the girls, don't be haters. The men just lose it faster. But the average man loses six. Average woman loses three of these. But the average American and international audience is six of those overweight. But guys, there's a difference between weight loss and fat loss. When we do weight loss, and there's a new docuseries out about The Biggest Loser, those guys were into weight loss.
--:-- John Jubilee: Do you know those people in The Biggest Loser lost like 60 pounds of water?
--:-- John Jubilee: They lost like 30 pounds of muscle. And then they lost like 90 pounds of fat. But half their weight loss was water and muscle, which you don't want to lose. That's super unhealthy. You'll never recover. You'll never get back your metabolism. You can see it on Netflix. The New York Times did a story about The Biggest Loser and said all those people destroyed their metabolism for life. Those people would have to under-eat the rest of their lives. They all gained back their weight. It's a documented fact. If they lost 200, they gained back 230. They lost 150, they gained back 180. Because they destroyed their metabolism. So I like to teach people real science. You don't want to ever lose weight. You only want to lose fat. You want to gain your healthy lean muscle. Just five pounds of lean muscle will eat up to 10 of these every year for the rest of your life. That's the power of lean muscle. That's what nobody wants to tell people. They just want them to look at the scale and go, "Hey, you lost 20 pounds, be healthy." That's what Ozempic does, by the way. Up to 80% of all weight loss on Ozempic is skeletal muscle, your healthy lean muscle mass. So it's the biggest scam. It's a bigger scam than COVID is Ozempic. Ozempic is dangerous. It is unhealthy. If you're on a GLP-1, God bless you, I know you were just desperate, but you got to get off of that. You're going to lose your lean muscle. You'll lose your metabolism for the rest of your life. And I brought this little guy. [Holds up another item] This is who we call Super Rex at Energize Health. I like to give people visuals that they'll never forget. When you do it the right way, your fat will be like you loosed Super Rex inside your body. He's going to go chomping on that fat and he will absolutely annihilate that fat out of your body. I got to tell you a quick motivational story. My lead coach at Energize Health was 799 pounds.
--:-- John Jubilee: Of course, me, I'm a positive guy. I said, "It's not like you're 800. You're only 799." But do you know today, he is motivating, encouraging, inspiring people. He's about 185.
--:-- Paul Alex: 185. So it doesn't matter where you're starting at. Nobody out there is probably 799, but that's insane. I hope he's at least tall.
--:-- John Jubilee: He's about 5'8", 5'9".
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. So how could people focus on losing fat compared to losing fat, water, and muscle?
--:-- John Jubilee: The key is you have to focus on the intracellular. That's a scientific word. Think of the word "inner." You've got to get the hydration inside the cell. I like to ask people simple questions, and I'll ask you this. What's the difference between a raisin and a grape?
--:-- Paul Alex: A raisin and a grape. A grape holds water. That's all it is. Hydration.
--:-- John Jubilee: So think of your heart. Do you want your heart to be shriveled up like a raisin?
--:-- John Jubilee: Your thyroid, your pancreas, your kidneys, your lungs, your brain. Nobody wants the shriveled up raisin. Your skin is an organ. Sometimes people think I look younger than I am, and I say, "Hey, I'm just not a raisin. I'm a grape." I'm happy to say, when this is airing, I'm 65 years old.
--:-- Paul Alex: Love it.
--:-- John Jubilee: I'm a happy grape of a senior citizen.
--:-- Paul Alex: So, John, how can we hydrate our organs? How can we get the water inside the body to the point where we're not raisins?
--:-- John Jubilee: Let me just clarify, it's not getting it in the body. We're all getting more water in the body. How many of you out there are drinking more water? Everybody's drinking more water. That just gets it in the body, but then it's going right through to the toilet. We've got to get it inside the cell. This is what our patent is we filed. We filed the patent of a process to get the hydration inside the cell instead of inside the body. It's a simple 88-day protocol that anyone can do. We've had children do it. We've had 92-year-old couples do it. We have professional athletes that do it. We have people trying to just get off all their medications that do it. It's for everybody. We have really dramatic stories. You could go look on our website. People say, "That just sounds miraculous." We call it the miracle of the day at Energize Health. We've had people that had MS in a wheelchair, couldn't walk, and now they run for five miles. You name it, we've seen it reverse. You could click on all these categories of people: high blood pressure, diabetes, diverticulitis, spinal stenosis, Lyme's disease, Crohn's disease. We see it reverse. Why? Because it's a river of living water flowing through the cells, taking out all the inflammation, all the toxins. The scientific term is homeostasis. There's a biblical term called shalom: peace, nothing broken, nothing missing. That's how God designed us to live 120 years at full strength and full power.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. So if you were to break down the process, what would be the initial steps?
--:-- John Jubilee: The first step for anyone is you have to make a decision. You have to make a decision of your own free will, like I did. In my pain, I made a decision. I don't care what it takes. I'm going to figure out a way to be healthy so I can be the dad for my kids. I want to play with my kids. I want to have a legacy. That is my legacy, by the way. My twin 11-year-olds, I have kids from 35 to 11. My legacy with them is I play every sport. I don't watch them play a sport. It's making a decision. There's a scripture in the Bible. Everybody probably has this thing on a cute picture at their house: "Your youth and strength will be renewed like an eagle." Some preacher maybe preached it in a sermon and they thought, "Oh, that sounds so good." What they don't tell them is, do you know what the process is? An eagle has to, of its own free will, choose to go through a process. Just like we, the first step is, are you willing to go through the renewal process to be at your optimal health at the cellular level? Because it's a choice. Just like an eagle has to choose. It will die at about 40 to 50 years old unless it chooses to do this. It flies up to a high, high mountain where no predators are. It finds a safe spot. It rips its talons out of its feet.
--:-- John Jubilee: Now that its feet are bleeding, then it rips all of its feathers, every feather, like a naked chicken at the grocery store. Then it beats its beak against a rock and it's just laying there completely helpless. But little by little, the talons start to grow back. The feathers start to grow back. The beak starts to grow back. When it grows back in, that eagle will live another 40 to 50 years.
--:-- John Jubilee: Because it went through the process. If we'll choose to go through the process, and I'll use another biblical principle. 3 John 2 says, "Beloved, I wish above all things." Above going to church, above reading your Bible, above singing in the choir, being a volunteer. "Above all things that you be in health." Because God knows we can't even fulfill our destiny as a father, as a mother, as an entrepreneur, as a financier of the end time harvest if we don't have our health.
--:-- Paul Alex: Wow. That's powerful, man. So let's say somebody wanted to work with you. How would that look?
--:-- John Jubilee: Super simple. All they have to do is make that commitment. "I'm going to go through this renewal process." We can teach them in 88 days. That's a cellular cycle of the human body, how to be healthy for the rest of their life. We have tens of thousands of people that already did it. 28 years, not one medical doctor visit. You don't get sick when your cells are healthy. I tell people, try to make a healthy cell sick. Even in crazy COVID California, I never got sick. People just make the choice. They do a simple registration. They're going to make four commitments, but we're going to give them four promises. One of those promises is they are going to gain their hydration. They're going to gain their lean muscle. They're going to lose their visceral and subcutaneous fat. And they will improve or reverse any health condition they have. Period. If it doesn't happen, we'll refund their money in about one hour. All we want to do is transform people's lives. In doing this for almost 30 years now, 28 years, we're fully medically approved. You could go to your doctor's office and buy this protocol. We sell it for less than the doctors do, but we partner with doctors. You could finance it even on CareCredit, tax deductible, HSA, FSA. It's a fully medically approved program. We have to track our success rate. When people do this, there's a 99.1% chance those four things are going to happen to them.
--:-- Paul Alex: That's amazing, man. I'm going to have to come check it out.
--:-- John Jubilee: Let's go.
--:-- Paul Alex: For sure. So with that being said, what is a couple words of advice that you would give to somebody who is stuck in their health journey right now? They're looking for some words of encouragement to level up. What would you tell them?
--:-- John Jubilee: Here's what I would share with you. I was stuck. I kept getting deeper stuck. Like when you spin your tires in the mud and you just keep getting worse and worse, and now all four tires are down in the mud. I was stuck like that for 10 years. I absolutely know how you feel. I totally felt the same way. I did not want to fail one more time. Maybe you feel like that too. That is truly where I was. I didn't want to fail one more time. If it wasn't for my boys, I would not have even made this last desperate attempt. But I absolutely will promise you, if you'll do what I did, if you'll do what tens of thousands of others have done, you can get unstuck. You can have your best health for the rest of your life. I don't care if your doctor told you it's incurable, irreversible. We have another saying at Energize Health: we reverse the irreversible. You can look on the front of my website. Dr. Brian Taylor, irreversible kidney function. It reversed. That's why he's on the front of the website. He couldn't believe it. But you can get unstuck. I share this with you from a scientific standpoint, not to brag. I'm not a weightlifter guy. I'm a health guy. Can I just share something fascinating with you? There's a scripture in Deuteronomy that says, "As your years are, so shall your strength be." In 1997, I could chest press 200 pounds. I would just add a little two and a half, two and a half, two and a half. That's the smallest plate you can add. People make fun of me at the gym that I was even adding a little two and a half pound plates. I didn't care what they said. I'm not a weightlifter. I'm a health guy. But I wanted to see if this scripture was true. So it went from 210 to 220. Fast forward. Last year, I set the world record for chest press as a senior citizen: 555 pounds, 14 reps.
--:-- John Jubilee: 14 reps, 12 plates. It looks like a cartoon. I wasn't trying to impress anybody. It just happened to be guys at my gym said it's a world record. I came home. My wife said, "Baby, that is a world record. You should go do that." So then I did. I want to encourage you. I never dreamed. If you feel stuck, are you kidding me? It wasn't on my dream board. It wasn't on my vision board. "Hey, set a world record when you're a senior citizen." No, it wasn't even a dream for me. If you want to step into the possibility of having the best health you've ever had, the best strength, the best life, the best energy, do something you've never done to have something you thought you'd never have.
--:-- Paul Alex: I love that. That's what we call the level up. And John, where can they find you?
--:-- John Jubilee: It's Energize Health. E-N-E-R-G-I-Z-E-D. EnergizedHealth.com. On the cool entrepreneurial story, we also own MakeAmericaHealthyAgain.com. We'll share that story on another day.
